The Peruvian horse is unique in the equine kingdom. As a naturally 'gaited' horse, the Peruvian imparts little or no bounce to the rider. Its luxuriously smooth ride coupled with its tremendous stamina and easy disposition make the Peruvian the ultimate pleasure horse. As the first breed of the Americas, the Peruvian is endowed with a rich heritage, carefully preserved, which dates back almost 500 years to the days of the Spanish Conquistadors. The military advantage provided by the 200 war horses brought to the new world by the Spaniards contributed to the downfall of the Inca empire. This noble steed, isolated by the Andes mountains and coastal deserts of Peru, contains virtually no introduced outside blood, making the Peruvian horse of today one of the purest breeds on earth.
